Twin Cities Campus Update

The policy requiring a doctor's note for excused absences from class due to illness is being reinstated beginning January 19, 2010, on the Twin Cities campus. As you know, this policy was suspended last semester for students who were absent from class due to symptoms associated with 2009 H1N1 flu. That decision was made in response to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health.

The reinstatement of this policy is based on the recommendation of the University's H1N1 health emergency response team and their assessment of the current state of the H1N1 virus in Minnesota and at the University.

Since we do not know if we will have a third wave of the virus, we continue to urge everyone to get the H1N1 flu vaccine, which is available free of charge to faculty, staff, students, and their dependents at the Boynton Health Service, as well as from health care providers throughout the community.
